Jason Kouts is a native son of Safford. He was born into a contracting family as a fourth-generation carpenter. He worked for his great-grandfather (George Kouts), grandfather (Wesley Kouts) and his father (Ron Kouts), while attending grade school and high school; after High School he procured his own contracting license and went out on his own. He was a young entrepreneur and took on every challenge he faced. Twenty-five years later he’s still going strong.
One year after graduating high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Maria Nations Kouts. The two began their family a year and a half later and have three grown children (Josiah, Montana and Austin).
Jason has always been very involved in the community. He became a volunteer fire fighter and also serves as a local basketball official. Jason has always had a passion for his city and to serve in any capacity that he could. Jason served on the Safford City Council, from May 2008-2012, as vice-mayor. He is strong in his faith and family values. Jason also served as an elder in his church and continues to give of his time, money and resources. Jason knows rural Arizona very well and loves his hometown. He has conviction to bring about positive change, not by fighting the old, but building the new.
