Small Business Support Program

The City of Safford is initiating the Small Business Support Program, a program designed to stimulate economic activity by reducing barriers to entry for businesses located in the City of Safford.  It is the latest program, in a series of programs, created and implemented by the City, to encourage and support local business activities.

Eligible new small businesses may receive up to $10,000 in assistance including façade updates, waivers of business license fees, building permit fees, utility deposit and hookup fees.  In addition, new businesses may be eligible for assistance with zoning/building code requirements and infrastructure improvements.  Businesses must be located within the city limits of Safford, Arizona.

Submissions will be reviewed by a five-member committee that includes city staff, a member of the Safford Downtown Association, as well as members of the local business community.  Applicants will be required to fund a minimum of 50% of the overall project cost, submit all necessary support documentation required to meet city standards, and will be subject to an official inspection prior to being reimbursed for the awarded amount.
